AskFirst uses two very simple techniques to empower you to fully control your POP3
InBox. The system's first line of defense is a "Challenge and Response" method that is getting popular on line.
The method that this uses includes an auto reply the first time someone emails an AskFirst protected
InBox, which basically says, "We need to know you're a real person and not a source of
spam. Please reply to this email and leave the subject header unchanged." |
When they do, the are added to a White List and never challenged again. And since spammers almost never use their real return address, they never even SEE the validation request, let alone reply to it. And if they do, the AskFirst software provides a convenient Black List to silently ignore them (and delete their email on the server) in the future.
AskFirst also provides a Passcode system whereby anyone with the "secret string" can send you email simply by including it in the subject header. This is a convenient way to allow FIRST TIME emailers to get through, perhaps from a Web site posting or other. Since Passcodes can be created and destroyed on the fly, this is great for someone who wants to both, publish their email address on line, but control exactly who can access your InBox and for how long.
Users can manually populate the White List in advance so that they are never challenged. Simply add the addresses of those already in your addressbook, for example, to this list and permit them access to your InBox without having to validate.
And finally, AskFirst can protect as many POP3 accounts as you might have. Simply configure the software for each of these, including Login, Password, SMTP and POP3 server addresses, and turn AskFirst loose to save you countless hours a day in worthless Email sifting. Surely a worthy investment of $5.
